Group Programs Abilities Programs Abilities Online Cooking Group RYSS Abilities ONLINE Cooking Group Every term RYSS runs our Abilities Cooking Group where young NDIS participants (12-25yrs) come together for social engagement while learning practical skills for the kitchen. Covid 19 has impacted this program by not allowing us to run this group out of the Wyoming Youth Skills Centre like we normally would. That’s why we have developed the Abilities Online Cooking Group, a group that will still offer social engagement and practical skills-based learning delivered LIVE and online from the safety of the participant's home. Each week participants will receive their own delivered ingredients pack which will include locally sourced and portion measured ingredients and a step by step written recipe for that week's cook. They will then have access to a scheduled LIVE online zoom meeting where our qualified chef facilitator will be able to assist them step by step through the recipe, and they can interact with other participants showing off their cooking skills and their culinary masterpieces. This program will give its participants the opportunity to prepare and cook a meal to share with their family and loved ones while providing much needed social engagement opportunities at a time where this is particularly difficult. To be part of the Abilities Online Cooking Group participants are required to have Basic kitchen equipment like pots, pans, knives, chopping boards, and utensils. Pantry staples. A brief list containing items like salt, pepper and oil to be supplied. An internet capable device like smart phone, tablet or computer with Internet connection to access the LIVE tutorial delivered by our facilitator. Don’t worry if you can’t participate at the allocated time each week. The LIVE tutorial will be recorded and emailed to those who missed out, or for those who want to view it again. We take the health and safety of our participants very seriously and we take pride in tailoring our support services to an individual’s needs. If the participant is under 18 or requires a support worker for assistance to partake, we are more than happy to discuss these needs so we can provide additional supports.
