METRO FEST

Metro Fest was definitely the best mini festival to go down right in the heart Gosford in Winter 2019. This all ages drug and alcohol free event attracted a crowd of over 200 to the Youth Arts Warehouse on July 26th 2019

The whole event was planned by a Young Event Management Team who organised everything from start to finish with the mentorship from industry professionals, musicians, event management, marketing, and arts coordinators. Metro Fest was a double headliner with two professional bands, the first being Sydney based alternative R'N'B cosmonauts, Gold Member, and the other being local legends of alternative rock, The Moving Stills. Both bands are very seasoned in gig'ing and touring and provided valuable guidance and mentorship for the three support acts who predominantly are local High School bands. The supporting acts were;

Newcomers to the scene, Aw Heck kicked off the night with awesome stage presence and blowing us away with some absolute amazing covers most of which were written before they were born!

Turtle Custard totally took us on a time warp with their psychedelic, funk-rock. They give a good hat tip to some old school influences and their single "Banga of a Schnitty Sanga" has some wicked tempo changes and the crowd was mad for it!

Indie Rock duo, Loose Leeches who totally got the crowd moving with their set list especially their single "Silver Heart".

The night was vibrant with festival decor and Instagram installations for the attendees to snap a pic with their crew. There was vego and beef nachos, and soft drinks and water available and RYSS Youth Workers and Security were in attendance to make it a safe space for all to enjoy. The whole night went off without a hic-up and all who came were there to enjoy the music, atmosphere and have a great time with their friends.

The energy in the room was absolutely electric and so much fun was had by all who attended. We would love to do another Metro Fest sometime in the not so distant future! This amazing collection of works including an 8 minute film of stunning cinematography, is on display at Gosford Hospital until December 2019 and then will be touring other galleries of the Central Coast region including The Art House, Wyong.

It’s been a journey for the young people and they have relished in the opportunity and have grown so much from the experience.
