About the event
Ngaliya – We All Together
The RYSS Indigenous Justice Program is proud to present our Cultural Connections Program, Ngaliya - We All Together. The Ngaliya Program focuses on bringing at-risk Indigenous young people, aged 14 - 17, together for weekly activities and workshops to connect and engage with their culture and community.
Ngaliya is a 4-week program running at our Yarning Circle and youth facility, Wyoming Youth Skills Centre, and out in the community and on country.
Purpose & Aims
To provide early intervention strategies aimed at reducing risk-taking behaviours, and provide workshops to connect and engage with local Aboriginal culture and community. We aim to link young people with information and referrals to assist with cultural development support, as well as address target areas identified by the young person.
Who can attend
Indigenous young people who reside on the Central Coast aged between 14 – 17 who are interested in developing their
understanding of Indigenous culture and build connections to culture on the Central Coast.
Program Duration
Ngaliya is a 4-week program run each school term on Tuesdays 10 am - 12 pm
What to Bring
Lunch is provided, and Wi-Fi is available onsite at WYSC. For community and on-country days, please wear comfortable shoes and bring water and a hat. Sun cream provided.
Educators
RYSS youth workers/cultural facilitators x2 and Indigenous mentors and members of the community. All educators have a current WWCC.
